Concert Virgin~no more!

Last night I went to my first concert. Mike took me for my mother's day gift. It was great. I even got a souvenir.

It was a lovely date night with great entertainment. Afterward we walked back to our car hand in hand. The night was beautiful.

Strep strikes again!

I had a lovely long weekend. We enjoyed the weather, played outside, went for long walks, ate massive amounts of ice cream and pizza. Today though is back to work and school. Ian woke up at 5 am crying and saying he didn't feel well. He had a high fever and after a test at the doctor's we discovered he has strep again! We are home together for the next two days, which isn't half bad considering the heat wave like conditions we are having here in NY right now. Ian and I are resting in bed with the dogs in the a.c. It looks pretty outside, but it is actually pretty darn hot! I hope to be back soon with some photos from the weekend and to show you my mother's day gift! I get to enjoy it tomorrow night! plenty of pictures of that too I am sure.

Rosie's Remarks

Wednesday's with Rosie
Weekly commentary from a pugnacious pug:

Look at him! Snuggling up to Dad. And look at Dad! smiling, enjoying the "new" pug. I have put in my time. 7 long years as their pet and this is the thanks I get? replacement? I will make them suffer. I will not snuggle with mom in bed anymore. I will snub them all!

Excavating ice

This is a super easy kid project. A little while back Kristin asked me to post more activities that I do with my son, Ian because she is always on the lookout for projects to do with her cuties Logan and Sylvie.

Let the kids run around the house picking out little things that can be frozen in water (perfect use for those McDonald's plastic toys) and later picked out of the ice. Simple.

Here is the picture tutorial, minus the actual excavation part. Ian was too excited to wait for me to get home from work and Mike forgot to take pictures for me.

After they freeze overnight the toys are ready to be excavated from the blocks of ice. Ian uses a screwdriver, a hammer and any other thing that he thinks might be helpful.

He does this outside and is very careful to not hit anyone with the ice pieces that fly off. He is usually alone on the back porch and we just check on him frequently. Keeps him busy for a good long while. And then he immediately wants to do it again! Hence the reason we have two ice blocks freezing.

Pugs, puppies and Pooka

We adopted a new pug! His name is Billy. He is 8 years old. He is 29 pounds of mush and love.
He has been an amazing addition to our family! He may even get his own series on this blog similar to Rosie's Remarks on Wednesday's. Who knows?

He just came to our home on Saturday through a pug rescue group. I found him through this site. We are so lucky to have him. He has made our family complete. Two pugs, 1 female, 1 male, Perfect! Rosie gets along well with Billy. She doesn't seem to mind the extra loving and attention we have been showering Billy with. She is pretty chill lately and just took over his new bed in the kitchen. That is Rosie's way of letting us know she is the alpha. (we get it Rose!)

Pooka was supposed to be adopted this weekend and we said goodbye to her and brought her back to the SPCA.
Sue now has two puppies downstairs named Bella (the boxer) who I first introduced here. And Brodie the pug puppy.

While it looks like utter chaos, it actually is quite calm in our two family house. The puppies are quiet and sleep frequently (when they are not pouncing on one another and chewing my wrist watch.)

Billy and Rosie are grown pugs, after all, so they are calm and just want to be around people all the time.

Sue and I have been taking everyone for walks all together. The big pugs (Billy and Rosie) walk nicely and enjoy sniffing every blade of grass and marking here and there.

The puppies (Brodie and Bella) on the other hand HATE to walk and mostly get carried. They will get it soon enough.

We must look like crazy dog people as we walk around our neighborhood, but not one person has said anything of the sort. In fact most of our neighbor's admire our pups and our dedication to them.

The newbies (photos courtesy of Ian) I look possessed.

We just love our dogs!

Billy agrees!

peek a boo

My niece Corinne loves to play hide and seek. She doesn't care that she hides in the same spot over and over again. But you must pretend like you don't know where she is by checking all around her before you spot her (in the same spot she was in the last 100 times you "found" her).

She also will strip naked in the living room (my living room) and say she needs "pwivacy!" and to "cwose yah eyes".

Of course she will never close her eyes when you are changing. She will say "you need pwivacy?" and then say "okay" and continue to look at you and do what she was doing.

She is a box of surprises!

Rosie's Remarks

Wednesday's with Rosie
Weekly commentary from a pugnacious pug::

Seriously, another dog? You people are becoming obsessed. It is exhausting. I need more peace and quiet...and NAPS! I need naps regularly. I'm spent.

All these dogs think I am a pet. Don't they know I am not an animal? I am part of the family. I don't get tied out in the yard or taken for walks! I take THEM for walks!

Poor Rosie doesn't know this yet but we are expanding our family too. We aren't adopting Pooka if that is what you are thinking...Nope, we are in the process of adopting someone else. More on that another time.

This boy

This boy loves this dog. This boy can't stop holding her and "helping" her. This boy protects her like she is the most precious thing he has ever laid eyes on. This boy wants her to be his.

Luckily in our house, cousins (furry ones included) live only down the stairs. Not too shabby for this boy who wants to visit and take this girl for a walk or just carry her around the yard all day long.

This boy. Watching him play with this little girl melts my heart. This sweet boy that tells Pooka to "be gentle with Bella she's only a baby". I can't get enough of this boy. He has my entire heart. He makes me laugh. He makes me cry tears of joy. His love for his family is incredible and ours for him.

He made me a mother. He made this Mother's day special. This boy mastered cooking breakfast to cook for me on my special day. He took my plate after lunch and offered to take my sister's "because it's mudder's day and you don't have to do anyfing on mudder's day".

I love this boy.
